I'm currently in the very, very early stages of planning a full size (4 x 4) Infinity board for our collective use. Based off the descriptions of the planet Paradiso, I'm looking to make an old wartorn industrial/science complex that has been slowly reclaimed by an alien style jungle.
Quick brainstorming led to the following bullet points to make the table a 'success';
So the plan is;
Step 1: Use plants like these to simulate an alien jungle world.
Step 2:Buy some simple mdf buildings like these for the industrial complex.
Step 3: Put it all together!
Step 4: Play some Infinity!
Anyone fancy joining in on this project? I'm happy to fund it myself slowly over the summer, but an extra pair of hands or two at my garage would be awesome for actually putting it all together. I'm taking inspiration for this from blogs like this one, and I don't see why we couldn't come up with a similarly impressive table for our own use. While 4 x 4 might be a bit small for some games we play, I don't see why it couldn't also be used for any type of sci-fi skirmish game we're likely to pick up in the coming months/years!
Quick brainstorming led to the following bullet points to make the table a 'success';
- As cheap as possible, the better.
- All terrain pieces based on hardboard and then covered in Basetex for stability.
- Use plastic aquarium plants to simulate alien jungle on the cheap.
- Plenty of cover from every direction, no open spaces more than 6" wide.
- Four 2 x 2 squares to make up the final 4 x 4 board to make it easy to store.
- Each piece should be 'side neutral' to allow the pieces to be realigned to change the shape of the board between games.
- Should have at least one terrain feature three stories high.
- Commission Steve August to airbrush the building, as I really, really hate painting!
- Ensure the board is 'faction neutral' to allow for any factions to b used on it.
