Hi All I'd just like to say how much I adore the 'stuff' that Warlords make, they truely are excellent minis.
Now, I am due to buy their rule book for Hail Caesar. I have noticed that they also have a Volume I and a Volume II. Listed in these (as the web says) are a wide variety of civilisations to choose from. The thing I dont't like much is the fact that they have included more civilisations than what they have actually produced... For example, Goths, Welsh and Mongols.
Does any one know where I can find great models similar to scale, price and quality of that of Warlords and of the more uncommon wargaming factions? Thanks.
ClairvoyantViking.

Well it really depends on what you want. Gripping Best are good and you could look at the Saga stuff too. What army do you fancy ?

Thanks for the reply. Thanks also for the advice.
To answer your question: to be honest, I cannot make my mind up, it covers such a vast array of civilisations. I would like a more uncommon army, something that you don't often see on the table. The Byzantines catch my eye as they recently featured in a popular magazine.
Having saying this, I have started a Pike and Shotte army, Royalists!! I am thoroughly impressed with Warlords range for English Civil War.

Gripping beast do some great quality miniatures. I have two Warbands for Saga, Anglo danes and Skrealings all Gripping beast there lovely to paint and always look good on the tabletop. You can't really go wrong with Gripping beast.
Also me and Chris Cain should be starting Pike and shotte in the summer, I'm still deciding on the New model army or Scottish covenanters.

They might be lovely to paint, but you only manage one model a month

I'll certainly consider Gripping Beast, there are others though, such as Wargames Foundry, Perry, etc. Italeri I think do some, but they're slightly smaller than the warlord 28mm figures.
Hail Caesar may take a little longer to paint but Pike and Shotte, esp. English Civil War are mighty simple to paint and take a matter of minutes (per model).
Thanks.

I've also managed to paint two miniatures of my anglo danish Warband, so I'm managing to get through them very slowly lol To be honest I'm not given the time to paint with her in doors, nagging me to get stuff done for the baby.

@op: Have you considered playing Hail Caesar in other scales? Martin and myself are currently looking at doing the battles for Magna Graecia, in 6mm using Bacchus miniatures. I'm looking at doing an entire Mid-Republican legion on a 1:1 scale, 4500 men roughly. Martin is going to be collecting an Anicent Greek force to represent Phyrrus of Epirus and his Hellenistic Phalangites. If you fancy some really large epic games, downscaling is the way to go. I'm looking at possibly doing a long term plan involving a full recreation of the main line Battle of Asculum (279 BC), totalling four Legions on a 1:1 scale. I'd like to do the whole battle, but 40,000 men a side is a bit extreme .
