OK I want a set of easy play skirmish rules for AWI. I dont want a rule set that means I will need to but a frikkin army book too oh and a bloody killer model or some such poohe. Just a very simple normal set of rules so I can buy and paint up 20-30 Colonials and the sam of the losers, I mean British.
Any ideas and Brian dont mention Maurice as that is for large scale battles !

Personally, Martin and I find this game to be hysterical. It's very much tongue in cheek like the Sharpe series, Historical but with a massive dosage of fun on top. In our first game three of my soldiers deserted to the local brothel (and had to be hauled out again my Sergeant Harps) and my Lieutenant Sharp twisted his ankle while advancing towards the enemy and spent the rest of the battle with a negative modifier to his movement!

Thinking about it Steve, Martin and I worked out a decent set of point lists for this game (the rulebook is ran off of scenarios, no army lists) and posted them up on the Bunker forums some time ago in the historical section. Would be grand if you could nab em for us and post them here, as I don't have access any more.

Edit: sharppractice.11.forumer.com/index.php - Sharp Practice Forums. www.jonspaintingservice.com/Sharp%20Practice.htm - Free to print Sharp Practice cards and reference sheets. sharppractice.11.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=45 - Same cards as above, in an easier to read format. Having asked around on the TooFatLardies forums and speaking with Martin tonight, we've worked out a points system for Napoleonic skirmishers, pretty similar to how SAGA works. Infantry comes in minimum squad size of 10, maximum squad size of 15 for regular and better, minimum squad size of 15 maximum size of 20 for Conscript, Cavalry are minimum 5 maximum 10. Artillery is bought as one gun individually, with 4 crew members. 10I 15I 5C 10C LA HA 1P 2P 2P 3P 1P 2P Infantry and Cavalry both start off as 'regular troops', for each point of veterancy you buy, it costs 1 point. For this reason, conscript forces come with a minimum size of 15 for 1 point. Cavalry and Infantry units may make one man into a Musician for free. (Note this doesn't add a model to the squad, but replaces one.) Conscript - -1P (minimum troops size of 15I, cannot take Conscript Cavalry) Regular - N/A Good - +1P Elite - +2P For example, 10I with veterancy level of 'good' would be 2 points. 15I with veterancy level 'elite' would be 4p. The rulebook states in the factions sections that certain troops had certain veterancy levels and couldn't take a 'basic' version. For example, French Old Guard and British Rifles come at a minimum veterancy level of 'good'. This means a basic 10 man unit of either of these Infantry types would have a minimum points cost of 2P. Any specialist infantry, such as French Old Guard, Kings German Legion or British Riflemen, may be taken in 5 man units for 1 point. Officers cost the same amount of points as they have Status levels. Sergeants/Ensigns - 1 point Lieutenants - 2 points Captains - 3 points Majors - 4 points According to the TooFatLardies forums, a standard game consists of 3 groups of 10 Regular Infantry, led by a Captain, a Lieutenant and 2 Sergeants. 1 Captain 3P 1 Lieutenant 2P 2 Sergeants 2P 10I Regular 1P 10I Regular 1P 10I Regular 1P So a standard game, is 10 points. This should take about 2-3 hours to play.
