Gents, With Salute less than a year away I want to float the idea of going with our own table. This is only an idea and if you want us to work for a company then thats fine too. However if we do want to build our own table for this then we would need to decide on what game we would be playing etc and then get cracking with planning it.
Thoughts please ?

Not a terrible idea pal, though it would require all of us to muck in to get it up to scratch. Salute is pretty serious business after all! Choice of game would be the most important factor though.

Ah Chris you obviously havent been to Salute for a long time. Some of the club tables are nothing more than a 6x4 battle mat. Its only serious if you intend on trying to win the best games table award, which would be nice.

Actually I've never been, I just assumed all the tables would be like the ones we see on facebook with battleboards uk. Hmmm. I guess we could do anything we liked then really. Bit shocked actually that Salute has people playing on just a simple battle mat!

Oh you would be amazed at the tables mate. They set them up and then bugger off shopping. Its an excuse for a free entry. What pisses me off is when they do this and leave coke cans etc. all over the table. At least set up a nice looking diorama if you aint gonna play.

Jesus. Disgraceful really.
Any ideas on what game you'd like to demo for Salute mate? If we did one of the smaller games like Cutlass! or Infinity we'd only need a 4 x 4 instead of a 6/8 x 4 which would cut down on the work required.

OK so a possible idea, which Jonald actually agreed with, is a 3 x 3 table of a an East London dockside area. One part would be given over to a wharf with some water and maybe a gantry or bridge over it, the rest of the table would be of a basic cobblestone finish so that buildings can be place anywhere to create multiple setups. The other point is that we can make some tiered levels with steps as well for extra height. I have many ideas for this so need a sit down to thrash it out and se what is achievable.

That would go pretty well with that steampunky sherlock holmes gangs you were posting about a month or so ago.

It occurs to me that the base sections could be double-sided..... maybe with desert-colour on the other side? There are precedents for some IHMN action taking place in Egypt..... rogue mummies, disturbed tomb-guardians, fanatical cults etc. A good excuse for using any left-over Tomb Kings stuff!?

The table is progressing well, should hopefully have the base done by next week. Just finishing the dock section today.

At this rate I think we will be cancelling the table for Salute and just go shopping. My boards have issues, I haven't got any ink to print and build the pub, Jon hasn't finished and is now ill, Martin is soldiering on (good man) and god only knows with Brian !!!!!
