So, I'm starting to plan out exactly how my new gaming table is going to be. 8x4, with a 12mm high edge, likely all made from thick cut MDF. Now, my plan is to cut 4x4 MDF boards which can fit inside the main table, allowing me to have many different terrain types that can be mixed and matched for an 8x4 table or can be used independently for skirmish games (200 point games of BA) as 4x4 tables. What I'd like is some suggestions for tables to do, that would fit with your BA armies from this thread so that everyone is included for gaming session at my place. Current plans are: Grass -> Sand -> Water. For use as beach landing for Normandy/Pacific Islands. City board with multiple streets/alleyways and possibly some sort of water feature. Above board redone with snow for Leningrad. Grassy with plenty of hedges and dirt roads for Normandy. A plain grass board for generic games and Napoleonics. I'm planning on doing these as cheap as possible, but effectively. Using textured spray paint to lay down the basic colouring (without sanding the table, which chips your minis if you knock them over ) and then adding specific details on top for each board. What I want to know is, what else do you really want to see?

Sounds good to me Chris. When thinking about boards for Infinity and Bolt Action the more cover the better. The roads I wouldnt tend to build static as that limits you some, I would be placing them on afterwards for each game.

Good ideas there Chris.... only a few of the boards need to be in any way 'specialised', like the beach-landing scenery. In this scale, colour is more important than texture we have noticed! It seems to be easier and more flexible to add terrain features like roads, rivers, hills etc. to a relatively flat playing-area, thereby getting the maximum use out of any board! I have noticed that some demo-tables at the shows have beautiful looking and realistic terrain...... but it's a bugger to play on because some areas are inaccesible to 28mm miniatures without them constantly falling-over..... I'm sure you must have noticed this mate!

Quick question chaps, how do you chaps play woods/forests in BA? I've seen quite a few thread on Warlords forum advocating a set area with 2" of LOS rather than using the direct LOS the rules ask for. Depending on which we will use, I'll adjust my wooded areas appropriately.

To be honest with the scale you are playing at we don't really use woods, just the odd tree scattered about. I would use. Few trees on an area effect base to keep cost down.

Right, me bro has given me the nod he reckons that he can get the gear for the garage next week, so potentially I could start having you chaps over for games from next weekend on
